Q'ero Maestro, Don Mariano Quispe will return
to North America soon!

November, 2016 in Georgia and North Carolina

Native Voices South is delighted to invite you to participate in ancestral teachings and ceremony offered by beloved Andean paqo, Don Mariano, when he returns to the USA this fall.

Don Mariano will travel here from Peru accompanied by Odon Medina, our longtime friend who will translate for him as he shares teachings the first two weekends in November, 2016

The two weekends with Don Mariano offer you the opportunity to work with powerful spiritual and earthly energies as they are understood in the Andean tradition. The teachings will focus on connection with natural forces, using practices developed since Inca and pre-Inca times by the paqos (healers, ceremonialists, and wisdom keepers) of the Q'ero communities in the mountains of Peru. The workshops will be deeply experiential, as Don Mariano works both with the group as a community and individually with each person to anchor those energies within the physical and energetic body.

   * Luminous Heart: Anchoring the Ñusta Energies
In the November 4-6, 2016 workshop, we will continue to awaken and deepen our connections with the Ñustas, powerful female forces in and of the Earth, essential to the process of creating and maintaining balance for both men and women. Don Mariano will build upon the Ñusta teachings he has shared here during previous visits to North America. At the same time, he will open and anchor those connections for those who are newcomers to the tradition.

   * River of Stars: Connecting with the Cosmic Forces of the Wilkamayu
The November 11-13, 2016 workshop will focus on the energies of the Wilkamayu, the River of Stars (Milky Way) and its Sacred River of Water counterpart on Earth. The Wilkamayu (Above) and the Wilkamayu (Below) mirror each other in an unceasing flow of energies between Sky and Earth. Don Mariano will guide us in practices that invite sacred forces into our luminous body, connecting energies through each ñawi (the ñawis are similar to the chakras) and linking us to another ongoing source of energy.

Both workshops will be open to both experienced practitioners of Andean traditions and to newcomers - there are no prerequisites for your participation in the November, 2016 workshops with Don Mariano.

The workshops will be offered at The Mountain, a retreat center near Highlands in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. During the week between the two workshops, a very limited number of individual sessions with Don Mariano will be available in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Let us know at NativeVoicesSouth@gmail.com if you would like to be part of this rare opportunity to apprentice with Don Mariano. We will be glad to send you more information and registration materials for the workshops.

We are delighted to announce that Don Mariano Quispe will return here in November, 2016 to share more in-depth teachings from the Andes, accompanied by longtime friend and accomplished translator, Odon Medina.

A beloved and deeply respected Q'ero elder, healer and ceremonialist from the Andes Mountains near Cusco, Peru, Don Mariano has traveled here several times in the past seven years. His first pilgrimage to North America was in 2009, when he taught and traveled together with us and friends from California, Colorado, and the Northeast.

Part of the anchoring of the journey was here in the Qollasuyu (Southeast), bringing together dream and everyday reality. This opened a cycle of teachings with Don Mariano that we are grateful to have been able to continue, as he has returned every year or two ~ linking the heart of the mountains of South America with North America and allowing a rare opportunity for many of us to experience apprenticeship here at home.

Additional information about Don Mariano's 2016 visit will be posted here soon.  Meanwhile, let us know if you are interested in the teachings he will share the first two weekends of November, if you would like to be notified about future plans, or if you would like for us to hold a space for you in the workshops.

Anita and Sam

Farewell to Dennis: A Remembrance

In Rocky Mountain National Park, during his first visit to North America
This high altitude meadow reminded Dennis and don Mariano of the Q'eros community high in the Andes Mountains, near don Mariano's home -- being there made them both a bit pensive and homesick, although they loved the stark terrain and big sky.
It is with sadness that we share the news that our friend, Dennis Alejo Mango, passed away in a jet ski accident in the ocean near his retreat center in Colan, Peru.

We are grateful for all we have shared with Dennis since we first met him years ago. We share the sorrow of his loss with his wife, Marna, his young son, K'uichi, his family in Peru, his friends all over the world, and the Q'ero paqos whose teachings he worked so hard to share with the world. The survival of those teachings is the legacy Dennis wanted to leave for his son and it is heartbreaking to realize that he will not be able to share that legacy in person.

Together with the Andean Paqos (healer-priests), Dennis co-founded the Serena Anchanchu Centre for Inca Shamanism. Guided by the Paqos' visionary understandings, they created a training program accessible for Westerners and grounded in authentic healing traditions of the Andes. Dennis encouraged the Paqos to decide how the traditions would be shared and was dedicated to helping the Paqos find their voices in the modern world, a place very different than the villages where they were born. Dennis's life's work was to create bridges between the ancestral and the modern. His death at a young age is a loss that will be keenly felt for a long time by those who were fortunate to know him.

Urpichay Sonquoy, Dennis, and farewell on your journey back to the stars -- with gratitude and happy memories of extraordinary adventures together here on Pachamama!

Q'ero Maestro, Don Mariano Quispe, Returns to the USA in November, 2013!

We are delighted to share the news that don Mariano Quispe, noted healer and elder of the Q'eros, an indigenous nation who live high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, will visit Atlanta, Georgia and North Carolina in November, 2013.

You are invited to experience transformative teachings with don Mariano, based in ancestral wisdom and practices that have been lovingly preserved for centuries by the Q'ero people, who are believed to be direct descendants of the Incas.  The traditional people who are now known as Q'eros fled to the highest mountains hundreds of years ago, when Spanish conquistadors invaded South America. In their mountain villages, their medicine men and women have preserved the ancient knowledge to this day.

Now, their prophecies tell them, it is time for their teachings to be shared more openly with the rest of the world -- and we in the modern, Western world are the fortunate recipients of their willingness to bring the teachings down from the mountains.

More information about don Mariano, as well as some of his messages, can be found in the older posts on this site.

During the November, 2013 visit, don Mariano will offer teachings during two weekend workshops near Highlands, NC and through a limited number of individual sessions in Atlanta.

To register or if you would like more information about the events with don Mariano in November, 2013, email us at: NativeVoicesSouth@gmail.com
